Tell us about you and Matt! How did you meet?
Matt and I met on Facebook in 2012. He sent me a friend request followed by a DM, we started talking and never stopped. We ended up only living about 10 minutes apart and grew up in neighboring cities as well. We started dating not long after our first initial conversation and we will be celebrating 9 years together next week.
Can you tell us all about your dress and your experience at Bon Bon Belle?
My dress experience at Bon Bon Belle was amazing. I went in having an idea in my head of what I wanted but upon trying on other styles, I went with one I never expected. Lindsay Webster was the biggest blessing during my dress search. I did have dress regret after my first dress came in and Lindsay went above and beyond to help me find my dream dress. I came in for one last appointment to look with just my mom and sisters and we found the one. Lindsay kept me up to date the entire time with shipping and delivery since there was some delays due to Covid and the civil unrest that was happening in early 2020. She was there when my dress came in and we all cried together at how perfect it was. Lindsay truly made my experience what it was and I will be forever grateful for her.
How did you wedding day go? Is there a reason you decided to elope?
Our wedding day was more than we could have ever dreamed of. We knew we wanted to elope and keep our day small and about us. We got married a month before our 8 year anniversary and we wanted to make sure our day was everything we wanted. We are both from Lake County, IL and we wanted to do an “adventure elopement” in the mountains. After some research, we decided on Colorado and found the most amazing photographer. We planned the elopement of our dreams and everything was perfect. We got married at the clerks office in the morning, I got my hair and make up done by a great salon, and then we drove 2 hours west to Grand Lake, CO. We got dressed in restrooms that were at the lake, Matt went out to a dock and I came out shortly after for our first look and small ceremony. We said short vows and then explored the area and got the most amazing photos. We then went to Adams Falls for more amazing scenery and then headed to what I like to call the ‘grand finale’. We went to Trail Ridge Road which is located inside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Its elevation is 12,000 feet and the views were unlike anything I have ever seen before. The temperature went from 80 down to about 50 but that was easy to ignore with the views. They were breathtaking. We did a 5 hour session with our photographer and she truly captured our day the way we always envisioned. She was a huge reason why our wedding went so well, she helped me plan every detail and helped me stay grounded in my reasoning for elopement. It was the most amazing day and like all dream weddings, it ended with us eating McDonald’s in our AirBnb. I wouldn’t have changed a thing, it was perfect. We did plan to have a reception to celebrate with family and friends in September 2020 but due to Covid we did postpone. Then as time went on and Covid did not get better, we decided to postpone the reception again and we moved to Denver, Colorado. Our reception will happen one day when the time is right and it’s safe to celebrate with our loved ones.
What is your best advice for future brides to be?
My best advice for future brides would be to not sweat the little things so much. The day truly flies by and you don’t even notice all of those little things that caused so much stress for all those months. The moment you see your significant other on your wedding day, the entire world just disappears. Also, it’s okay to be selfish, it’s YOUR day. Say no to those guests that you don’t want, buy the dress that makes you feel beautiful, and do whatever makes you happy.
